Iku Zhang is a writer and director based in Japan and San Francisco, USA. She was born in a beautiful port town in China and grew up in Osaka, Japan.
Iku's love for film and art is innate. From her childhood, what she's loved the most is that immerse herself in the cinema and literature, to explore the value and essence of lives and the world in the art world.
While she was at university, she focused on English Theatre and Cinema studies. In her junior year, she got an opportunity to work on a Chinese feature narrative film “Spring Tide(2017)” as the director’s assistant. When she first met a team that was passionately creating art, she knew that this was what she needs to do for the rest of her life.
After moving to San Francisco, California to study filmmaking at Academy of Art University, Iku acquired all the skills as a filmmaker that creating art, and handle the whole process of filmmaking as a director. She then graduated with a MFA in Motion Pictures and Television (focusing on Writing and Directing), and is now devoted to making her own film.

同志社大学文学部英文学科を卒業したのち、渡米しサンフランシスコ・アカデミーオブアート大学大学院にて映像制作を学ぶ。 2017年大学在学時、ヤン・リーナ監督の長編映画「春潮」にて監督助手を務めたことをきっかけに映像作家を目指す。好きな映画は『ドリーマーズ』、『ザ・マスター』。
